SABA

Biografía

SABA is a Cuban singer-songwriter based in the U.S. She blends Cuban tradition with global genres through a unique voice and lyrics that heal and awaken. Her sound fuses Afro-Cuban rhythms with contemporary styles like R&B, bolero-blues, gospel, and urban poetry. With deep lyrics and a sensual, elegant style, her music bridges generations and cultures. “Pregones,” her debut single, marks the beginning of a powerful artistic journey that reveals pieces of her story and roots.

In her home country, SABA never had access to formal music studies. By the time she was 21, conservatories for working students had been shut down, closing the path to certification that would have allowed her to work as a professional musician. Later, the enforcement of Decree 349 further restricted the space for self-taught and independent artists, which ultimately pushed her to carve her own path and give voice to her music beyond the official system.

This album is a wound that sings. It was born from exile, from forced silence, from the closed doors that never silenced my voice. It is my way of reclaiming what was forbidden to me—turning it into art, into freedom, into truth.

Each song carries a fragment of my story: the girl who dreamed of singing, the woman who defied fear, the artist who refused to be tamed.

Here, the rhythms of my homeland —bolero, danzón, guaguancó— blend with the genres that chose me —gospel, R&B, blues, urban poetry. Everything comes together without asking for permission—just like life itself.

“My story can't fit into a single verse, but every verse sets it free”
